Jean M. D'Aquila, Esq.
JEAN M. D'AQUILA, ESQ. has been a member of the Connecticut Bar since 1984. She is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut. She received a Bachelor's degree in Experimental Psychology and Inferential Statistics from the University of Connecticut, magna cum laude, as an Honors Scholar in 1981. In 1984, she received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Connecticut School of Law. Attorney D'Aquila's practice concentrates in municipal law, land use, residential real estate acquisition and conveyances and estate planning and administration. She has served as Town Attorney to numerous Connecticut municipalities during her almost 25 years in the private practice of law. She has argued cases before the Superior, Appellate and Connecticut Supreme Courts.
Attorney D'Aquila's current professional affiliations include: Connecticut Bar Association-member of Planning and Zoning, Real Property, and Estates and Probate Sections; Middlesex County Bar Association; Director and Treasurer of the Guild of Catholic Lawyers of the Diocese of Norwich; Attorney Trial Referee for the Superior Court for the Judicial District of Middlesex; Fact Finder and Arbitrator for the Superior Court for the Judicial District of Middlesex.
Attorney D'Aquila's current community affiliations include: Director of Liberty Bank (since 1992), where she is Vice-Chairperson, chairs the Audit Committee and serves on the Finance and Governance and Nominating Committees; Director of Cooper-Atkins Corporation, where she serves on the Audit Committee; Director of Middlesex United Way, Inc., where she serves on the Women’s Initiative; Director of Diocese of Norwich, Outreach to Haiti, Inc.
Over the years, Jean has demonstrated an immense commitment and dedication to her community, having served at various times as a volunteer director of the following agencies: Middlesex Central CT Chapter of the American Red Cross (former Board Chairperson); Haitian Ministries of the Diocese of Norwich, Inc.; MARC: Community Resources, Ltd. (former Board Chairperson); Greater Middletown Community Corporation (former Board Chairperson); Literacy Volunteers of Greater Middletown; and Middlesex Habitat for Humanity of Connecticut, Inc.
Her reported cases include: Town of East Hampton v. Department of Public Health, 80 Conn. App. 248 (2003); Ensign-Bickford Realty Corporation v. Zoning Commission, 245 Conn. 257 (1998); Yarboroughv. Demirjian, 17 Conn. App. 1 (1988).
In 2008, Attorney D’Aquila was recognized by the Connecticut Law Tribune as a High Achiever in its first special section on high-achieving women in the law in Connecticut.
In 2009, she was recognized by Super Lawyers magazine as one of the top attorneys in New England in the practice of land use/zoning. In May 2010, Attorney D’Aquila was recognized by Super Lawyers, Corporate Counsel Edition as one of the top attorneys in Connecticut in the practice of land/use zoning.

In her spare time, Jean reads great American and European literature, loves to vacation in Europe, cooks for her friends, and raises Yorkshire Terriers.
